The video presents the definition of Short Food Supply Chain and various short food supply chain models, which compensate for extended geographic distances with relational and/or information proximity through the development of direct and long-lasting relationships between supply chain players, and information traceability and sharing. The different short food supply chain configurations can pursue multiple sustainable development goals of UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In particular, rural area development and support to small-scale producers are the challenges to which “short sustainable supply chains” can provide tangible responses by leveraging relational and information proximity.
